Work Life Mobility Programme

Labour market mobility is generally low in the European Union today, both within and between countries. Increased mobility is a cornerstone in the European Employment Strategy. The aim of the Work Life Mobility Programme (WLMP), commissioned by the Swedish government, was to develop and introduce methods for managing work life mobility, to build networks for learning and discussion, and to share experiences.

All new EU member states and candidate countries participated, and there were a number of thematic programmes with joint and country-specific activities. The main focus was how the employment services can facilitate mobility.

The Work Life Mobility Programme continued until 2009 and was based on two previous cooperation projects: the Work Life Development Programme (WLDP) and the Work Life and EU Enlargement Project (WLE).
